Make EV charging work for guests – and for you

The up-front investment in charging infrastructure is sizeable. And somewhat understandably, hotels might have doubts about taking the plunge.

Government help

There is, however, government help support. The Workplace Charging Scheme – run by the Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles (OZEV) – provides generous aid to “small accommodation businesses” (249 employees or less).

The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of chargers (inc. VAT). And it’s capped to:

- £350 per socket

- 40 sockets across all sites per applicant.

OZEV approved installers

You must use an ‘OZEV-approved’ installer to qualify for the grant. Luckily, there is a list of OZEV-approved installers available.

Using the incentive is easy, too. The grant is removed from the total price before you pay your installer. The installer then claims the grant back from OZEV.

The full charging experience

Operating chargers isn’t just a question of hardware. You need to effectively monitor and manage your equipment, as well. That’s where the Switch Platform comes in.

Switch offers an accessible user interface that anyone can use. While component-level diagnostics lets you see specifically which part of your charger is malfunctioning.

And with more up-time, you can monetise your charging stations with variable tariffs that you can change with one click.

Switch also provides the integrations needed to facilitate roaming agreements between different charging networks.

If you want to know more, Switch’s Chief Product Officer Adam Chilab will deliver a keynote on ‘How EV charging can improve your guest experience’ at the Hotel & ResortInnovation Expo. (11 Oct @ 11:45 in Seminar Theatre 13).

User-friendly EV charging is the revenue driver you’re missing in your hospitality offering. More and more guests want vehicle charging that simply works. With Switch, you can give it to them.
